Meet Irena

Halinka Design - Melbourne

I’m a textile designer that graduated in the 80s from Wellington Design School in New Zealand. Have dabbled in my passion over the years and now its one of my goals to do something commercially with my training.

Salvaging fabrics is something that makes me feel good and is good for the world. The store is all about upcycling fabrics and giving them a new lease of life to make them treasured again! My favourite textiles to source are cotton, silk, linen, vintage, or globally printed fabrics they all must have colour and character. Designs are created from photography. The image is given a visual twist and either handmade into a screenprint or digitally printed. My designs are inspired by travel, places and people.
