Meet Emma Avery

Cloth Baby is Emma Avery’s new business, started in 2019. The idea came to her after she had her first baby and found herself overwhelmed by choice when it came to choosing cloth nappies. By the time her second child came along she decided to make things easier for new parents. Cloth Baby, she says, is about helping parents use modern cloth nappies easily and successfully. Cloth Baby retails award winning, Australian brands of cloth nappies plus waste-free baby accessories.

“My goal is to avoid single use plastic heading to landfill by empowering parents to use cloth nappies,” Emma says. “I have a background in waste education and waste management, and look to bring aspects of this into the understanding of the disposable nappy issue. My dream is to have an impact or influence on how Australia manages waste into the future through better policy and product design.”

Emma sells the nappies at clothbaby.com.au, plus she hosts local pop-up demos within the Albury/Wodonga/Hume region. “I am also forming other partnerships with other businesses to grow my capacity and profile.” She will soon be attending local markets and Sustainability Fairs in the coming year as well as running workshops.

Global Sisters, Emma says, gave her the confidence and support to get started with her idea, and realise it into a business.
