Meet Liliana

Liliana Jewellery Design- Victoria

Liliana Jewellery Design finds inspiration in the Australian bush, as well as in the rich culture and vibrant music of Sicily. Bespoke textile jewellery using a range of new, as well as vintage fabrics focusing on repurposing some materials and being sustainable. Textile jewellery may include sentimental pieces that have been gathered over one’s life time, but are too precious to throw away, thus telling unique stories of life, family, and love.

I was born in Argentina and arrived in Australia in 1977. I have Italian heritage -a Sicilian mother and paternal ancestors from Northern Italy. My parents’ marriage ratified the reunification of Italy. Long passionate about the arts and textile designs, I undertook some studies in visual arts and partially completed a diploma of textile designs.

Life took me along a different path though, but now that I have retired from full time work, I feel ready to focus on my creative expression. In 2018-2019 I participated in a number of artist-in-residence workshops provided by Melton Library. The program culminated with Home Sewn: Makers of Melton. An exhibition of textile arts, offered by Melton Council and shown across Caroline and Melton Libraries -North West of Melbourne.

Having my own business has been my childhood dream. It’s refreshing honouring and fulfilling the dream of a 5-year-old child, especially while going through my second youth! It feels me with excitement, while giving purpose and a new meaning to my life. It feels loving and tender to hold the hand of a little 5-year-old girl and assure her that it’s time to set her free and go for her golden dream.

I love ‘playing’ with fabrics, yarns, ribbons, and lace and in the process create a range of fashion accessories such as earrings, neck pieces, collars, necklaces, belts. Some of my fashion accessories are quite versatile and can be worn as a collar, neckpiece of belt. One item 3 different styles!

My goal is to grow my business, learn as much as possible in the process, have lots of fun, and as it becomes more established and prosperous, so will be the possibilities to increase my contribution to animal welfare and play a bigger role.
